If you are considering asking a woman to marry you, that is stressful enough. There are many things to consider, but height isn’t always the one which comes to mind first.

Legally, socially and ethically it is perfectly fine for an average height or tall man to marry a considerably shorter woman. There may be physical barriers to overcome connected to the difference in your relative heights, but everything else will be the same as for a regular married couple.

Although you can’t generalize people’s personalities based on their height, it is fair to say that being a fairly short woman will have instilled a certain drive within your future wife. She probably has a big personality and doesn’t take crap from anyone. This can be a great ally in life and can help you both be successful in the future.

However, there are some practical downsides of marrying a short girl if you’re taller too – such as conversations being more difficult because they have to look up at you or their eyes meeting yours instead of looking straight ahead when standing next to each other. Tall people may also start to suffer from back and neck pain, as they have to constantly bend down in order to kiss their partner.

What are the advantages of having a short wife?

When it comes to the advantages of having a shorter wife, they really fall into the physical nature of her size.

The advantages include:

– Easier to pick up and less risk of injury for a shorter woman, versus if she was taller.

– A bigger height difference between you – the husband – so carrying her is easier on your back or neck in comparison to picking up a tall wife.

– More intimate moments when you are actually eye level with one else around.

– Easier for sex positions in the bedroom because she’s shorter, so you will be able to pick her up and….well I will leave that up to you!

-Move space in bed, unless she is a major cover hog or space invader

Not to beat around the bush too much, as a man you are going to feel much more masculine with a smaller partner just because you can use your strength and presence to thrill, comfort and seduce her.

Not that a taller woman won’t allow you to feel these things, but it’s just not the same when you have a petite princess in your arms.

What are the disadvantages of having a short wife?

As with the advantages of having a short wife, the disadvantages are also mainly physical. These are often associated with the difference in your relative height.

The disadvantages include:

– Not being able to get a good physical hug without bending

– Difficulty looking at your partner in the eye without sitting

– Difficulty kissing or embracing face to face

-back or neck pain from looking down

By the time you come to marry someone you are probably well aware of the difficulties with a differently sized partner. These things won’t go away, but you can learn to deal with them, such as standing back when having a conversation or sitting for your cuddle.

What will other people say about your shorter wife?

The biggest concern for most people when having a shorter partner is what the outside world says. Unfortunately, it’s not an equal world out there and different couples get different reactions. The most common reactions to a taller man with a short woman are that she’s his daughter, mommy, or sister.

Nevertheless, I think most people seem more comfortable with a taller man, even much taller, with a shorter woman. It almost seems like a biological necessity to have a taller partner as a woman.

However, if you are a shorter man with a taller wife, things can be different. You might get teased by other men, and not always to your face.

For me, the height difference has never been an issue. I have found that most people are more interested in my wife’s personality than her size. Then again we aren’t that different in height.

I did date, someone, once who was very petite and even I felt a little self-conscious walking around with her and I’m not even that tall myself.

Ultimately, if you love this girl you can deal with the odd sidelong look or look of surprise. If you are really tall, you may not even get that because you may look especially intimidating next to your shorter wife.

Not that there is anything fundamentally wrong with being short, but most parents would probably agree they want to have strapping offspring. I personally have a baby on the way and hope that he or she grows up to be big and strong, at least him anyway.

There is no doubt that the height of the parents does influence the height of the children, but there are also other more far-reaching effects of genetics.

According to Dr. Swati Sharma, one good way to guesstimate the future height of children is to take the height of their father and mother and add them together, then add another 5 inches if expecting a boy or subtract 5 if expecting a girl. Then finally you divide the number.

For example, let’s take a woman who is 5 feet 5inches and a man who is 6 feet 11 inches.

65 inches+83 inches + 5 inches (boy) or – 5 inches (girl) / 2
= 76.5 inches (boy) or 71.5 inches (girl)

That would mean this couple’s son would be around 6 feet 4 to 5 inches and a daughter 5 feet 11 to 6 feet tall.

Of course, this is a total guesstimation and is not an exact science. Nevertheless, it means that the children will normally be taller than the mother but not necessarily taller than the father in our example couple.

But genetically speaking, does the taller person’s genes win over the shorter persons? No, not always.

Unfortunately, some children will suffer from birth defects or issues with their development. In these cases, their height can be stunted not because they had a small mother but because they have a real medical issue.

Modern medicine has come a long way and many of these cases can be resolved or mitigated in some way nowadays.

So if you’re worried about passing your genes along to the next generation we don’t have to worry.

Can short people marry each other?

There are few laws in the USA that can actually ban two people from marrying each other, and there are none that specifically prohibit small or ‘little people’ from tying the knot either with another similarly sized person or one who would be described as average height.

In fact, according to The Little People Of American Organization, about 50% of their members are actually in a relationship with average size people.

Many people speculate that children of two short parents will be small themselves, but this is not always the case. Taller couples may have shorter or average-height children because height can also come from their ancestors’ genes.

At the end of the day, particularly short people or those suffering from a genetic condition that limited their height are free to marry if emotionally capable of doing so.
